“I knew Joey DeFrancesco for 25 years. Guess you could say at one time I was his protégé, but Dr. Lonnie Smith was important to me as well. Losing two giants of the Hammond together is a hard hit this year -no matter how you look at it.” - PAT BIANCHI

In the grand tradition of Hammond B-3 pioneer Jimmy Smith, but leaving his own “modern stamp,” our Season #28 Opener features ORGANIST PAT BIANCHI, who is without question one of today’s most exciting and hip Hammond B-3 practitioners of this tried and true, artful jazz-soul subset. The keyboardist makes his second Jazz Series appearance, this time leading a staunch trio includes a pair of extremely talented, seasoned and like-minded musicians: GUITARIST PAUL BOLLENBACK and DRUMMER COLIN STRANAHAN. No one – and we do mean “no one” should miss this specially priced season-opener that surely gets the 2022/2023 Season and our “Jazz in the District” concerts off to a flying start.

"Jazz in the District"

Rose Park

Doors: 6 | Start: 7

Pat Bianchi Organ Trio

Pat Bianchi: Organ
Paul Bollenback: Guitar
Colin Stranahan: Drums

“The irreplaceable sound of the Hammond B3, nicely shaped by Bianchi's fresh approach, strongly contributes to a sense of modernism steeped in tradition. Bianchi, has established his own voice as an organist—something not easily done—and gives ample evidence why many regard him as the Next Big Thing on that venerable instrument.”
