A powerful, modern and inquisitive saxophonist, don’t let Donny McCaslin’s boyish looks fool you. Ever since he graduated from Berklee College of Music two decades ago, he’s been on the Boston/New York jazz front lines. This concert puts him out front as a leader for the first time on a Jazz Series stage, but his two previous appearances – one as a member of Maria Schneider’s orchestra – with whom he still plays – and another working with Danilo Perez’s “Motherland” project – certainly speak to his talent and versatility.
